Our Story
Born From a Promise to Bring Excellence Home
Afri-German Oncology and Wellness Centre was founded by Dr. Amara Osei in 2006, following nearly a decade of oncology training and practice in Germany. During her fellowship at the DKFZ in Heidelberg, Dr. Osei kept receiving calls from family and friends in Nigeria asking for help navigating cancer diagnoses — often too late, always too far.
“I watched patients fly to Europe for treatment they could have received at home, if only the infrastructure existed. Others never made it that far. I knew I had to change that,” she recalls.
She returned to Abuja with a vision, a network of German clinical partners, and an unshakeable belief that African patients deserve world-class cancer care without leaving home. Situated in Wuye, FCT Abuja, Afri-German has treated over 10,000 patients from 18 countries, established the region's most advanced radiation therapy unit, and trained the next generation of African oncologists.
The name itself reflects our soul: African compassion. German precision. Both, always.
